NWS Winter Storm Warning Map 1-24-21 4pm

Shovels ready? Starved Rock Country is a “go” for significant snowfall starting around midday Monday. The National Weather Service's Winter Storm Warning would cover 24 hours and end about noon Tuesday. The heaviest snowfall might be Monday evening. Strong winds – up to 40 mph – will limit visibility....maybe cause drifting.

Snowfall estimates include: 5 – 8 inches in La Salle County, 6 – 10 in Bureau and Putnam and 4 – 7 inches in Marshall County. Marshall could see ice accumulation of a tenth of an inch. Freezing rain may mix with snow at times. Power outages are possible. This will be a heavy wet snow; use caution if you use a shovel.

Travel will be difficult especially Monday evening. If you must travel, take your phone and a charger cord, a shovel, non-perishable food, blankets and water.
