With arguably the first summer-like weekend of the year weather-wise in the valley, first responders had their hands full.
A couple motorcycle crashes were reported in La Salle County both Saturday and Sunday. The wrecks on Saturday were on rural roads outside Seneca and Marseilles. Sunday there were separate motorcycle wrecks in La Salle. One was near the La Salle Speedway and the other along a county intersection north of town.
Fire departments were also busy fighting fires over the weekend. There were structure fires near Leonore and Streator while in Oglesby downed wires caused a grass fire near Advantage Logistics. Other fire calls included a car fire in Mendota and a lawnmower catching fire in Marseilles.
When it came to water-related 9-1-1 calls, Seneca first responders were called Saturday to the Illinois River for a stranded boat while crews in Utica were needed at Starved Rock State Park Saturday for a young girl who hurt her foot playing in the water.
