A longtime summer staple in Peru is making a comeback.
Folks with the Peru Parks and Recreation Department say the “Taste of the Illinois Valley” is returning this summer. Plans call for live music, food vendors, a beer garden, a kid's zone and vendor fair from August 5th thru the 8th at Centennial Park. More details are expected in the coming weeks.
For years the “Taste of the Illinois Valley” drew big crowds but former organizer Dave Potthoff says dwindling profits and neighbor disruptions were the main reasons the event ended after 2008.
