A Rhode Island man is at large and wanted for skipping bail on a Bureau County charge.
Leonel Rosario, 37, of Providence, Rhode Island, was arrested by the Trident Drug Task Force as he made his way on Interstate 80 on November 4th. Authorities say he was found with more than 900 grams of methamphetamine in his vehicle. He was charged with Unlawful Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance. That's a Class X felony.
Rosario's bail was set at 600 thousand dollars, and he paid 60 thousand cash to get out. After he failed to show up for a preliminary hearing this past week, authorities issued a warrant for his arrest. By law, Rosario's bail will be transferred to the Bureau County General Fund. Bureau County State's Attorney Geno Caffarini is prosecuting the case. Circuit Judge Marc Bernabei is presiding.
