Some folks in Peru are finding out the hard way that you have to lock your vehicles.
Peru Deputy Chief Bob Pyszka says in the past week, there's been a rash of car burglaries, mainly in the southwest part of town. He says an unknown person or persons got inside several vehicles along Calhoun Street and westward. While some of the vehicles were in garages, all vehicles broken into were left unlocked.
Pyszka says Monday morning they were called about a man knocking on doors along 2nd Street. Officers pursued the man on foot but eventually lost him. Investigators canvassed the area and found several vehicles had been rummaged through.
