A 65-year-old man is recovering after he was attacked by a pit bull Sunday afternoon in La Salle.
Just before 2 o'clock, Kenneth Humpage was riding his bike in the 900 block of Chartres Street when he was bitten on the leg. The dog's owner, Refugio Martinez of Chartres Street, told police the pit bull, named Megatron, was leashed, but not under control, as the City of La Salle orders.
Police Chief Mike Smudzinski told WLPO how the attack happened.
Police confirmed the same pit bull attacked a 14-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy last year. The animal was deemed dangerous after Sunday's attack and put down Monday.
Humpage was taken by ambulance to St. Margaret's Health Peru for treatment.
