If you're a city police officer, you never really know what to expect on the job day to day.
Peru officers were helping the driver of a stalled vehicle at the intersection of Route 251 and 38th Street Monday morning, when they found that the driver, 34-year-old Jonathan Caffey of Spring Valley, was wanted on a Will County warrant for failure to appear for a domestic-battery charge. He posted a thousand dollars' bond for this offense. Caffey also was found to be holding on to more than 16 grams of suspected cannabis, which violates the Cannabis Control Act. He was cited and released.
A few hours later, Peru police were sent to investigate a dog bite. Thirty-eight-year-old Adrianne Hinkel of Peru was cited for allowing a dog to run at large.
