Without a presidential or governor's race on the ballot, voter turnout for this past election was rather dismal.
In La Salle County, the overall turnout is 15 percent. The turnout in Bureau County comes in at 25 percent compared to 21 percent for Putnam County.
Peru pushed the La Salle County turnout, accounting for more than a fourth of all the votes cast. Five of 11 precincts in Peru had at least 40 percent of voters cast a ballot.
The village of Utica also had solid turnout numbers due in large part to a village president's race. Both precincts in Utica finished with voter turnout percentages of 40 or higher. A voting block in Deer Park that also feeds into the Utica races had just 20 percent of voters turnout.
