State Senator Sue Rezin

The Illinois Senate voted in favor of new clean energy legislation Monday.  The measure aims for the state to be using 100 percent clean energy by 2050, requires municipally owned coal and natural gas plants reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2045, offers a four thousand dollar rebate to those buying an electric car and includes money for Exelon to keep nuclear plants open.

State Senator Sue Rezin said "While I don't agree with everything that is included in Senate Bill 2408, it does keep our nuclear plants online, saves thousands of Illinois jobs and puts our state on a realistic path to 100 percent clean, carbon-free energy.
