A rural Marseilles barn fire was extinguished Saturday before it could spread. Fire Chief Dave Parrott said his crew responded to a site, two miles north of town about 4pm. Upon arrival, the structure was fully engulfed. With eight other departments, flames were out in 30 minutes.
A nearby barn took on minor damage, while livestock in another barn got away safely. There were no injuries. Parrott says the cause may have been electrical, or, possibly embers from a nearby burn pile.
Firefighters were on the scene on East 24th road about two hours.
