While federally charged for his alleged role in the uprising at the U.S. Capitol, an Ottawa man is in trouble for something closer to home.
Twenty-eight-year-old Matthew Capsel was in La Salle County Court Tuesday after being arrested on a warrant for missing a court hearing January 8th in Ottawa. He spent Monday night in the La Salle County Jail before coming up with $500 to bond out.
In La Salle County, Capsel is facing misdemeanor charges of domestic battery, violating an order of protection and criminal trespass to a residence. The alleged crimes happened last May in Marseilles.
Capsel is in much bigger trouble with the federal court system. He's charged with fighting with National Guard troops who were protecting the U.S. Capitol on January 6th. Capsel is out of federal custody while being monitored with a GPS device.
