Peru police have not yet charged the person responsible for a power outage early Saturday morning on Westclox Avenue, but Police Chief Bob Pyszka said they’re in the process.
At 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning, someone crashed into a transformer pole, taking the transformer off, which affected 50 customers’ power. The crash also spilled about 50 gallons of mineral oil.
When the suspect ran away, the person ran through the oil, so officials could see the direction the person ran toward. The vehicle was also left at the scene wrapped in guard wire.
